Declan offers music lessons in the Ballarat region. Based in Bonshaw but also teaches surrounding suburbs such as Wendouree, Alfredton, Lucas, and Sebastopol.
For students outside the area, online cello lessons and piano lessons are also available across Australia.

Do you offer cello lessons in Ballarat for beginners?
Yes, I offer cello lessons in Ballarat for complete beginners through to advanced students. Lessons are tailored to each stage of learning. The youngest would be 5 up to however old you are, it’s never too late to learn!
Where are your cello lessons located in Ballarat?
Lessons are available across the Ballarat region, including areas such as Wendouree, Alfredton, Lucas, and Sebastopol. I am based in Bonshaw but am able to travel too if needed. Shoot me an email at declanpostlethwaite@gmail.com and we can chat about options.
Do you prepare students for AMEB cello exams?
Yes. I have taken many students through AMEB exams. Ranging from prelim up to AMus. I also have experience with preparation for auditions and school assessments (such as VCE music, VET music and VCE composition).
Are online lessons available?
Online lessons are available for students in Australia and overseas via Zoom.
What age can you start cello lessons?
Students can begin cello lessons from age 5 and above, with age-appropriate teaching methods and materials. All ages are welcome, it is never too late to start a new skill and learn music.
Can adults learn cello as well?
Absolutely. Adult beginners and returning players are welcome, and lessons are tailored to suit individual goals and experience levels.
Do you teach other instruments?
I also teach piano and composition. I have played piano since the age of 5 and have similar playing experience, completing my AMEB gr8 in high school and continued playing for new music concerts and chamber music. Composition was also the major I took at university and have written music from screen to stage. You can check out some of my work here.
